Summer Lovin'

After VBS wrapped up on Friday, we ended the most structured part of our summer break. I am happy that we will not need an alarm clock on a regular basis from now until September.

Saturday morning, Michaela took her first ice skating lesson through our parks and recreation program. Here she is moments away from stepping on the ice for the first time:

She was fearless! As soon as one of the teachers came to get her on the ice, she was all in. Granted, she had a "seal" to hold on to in order to balance. Unfortunately, her teacher realized that her boots were worn to the point that they didn't give her the support she needed to stay up on the blades. We'll make sure that we get a better pair next time.

Yesterday, we spent a few hours in the afternoon and evening at Disneyland. Although we did get on a few rides in Fantasyland, we were mostly there to see the parade and fireworks. Michaela was just delighted and amazed by the lights, music, and all the princesses. It really changes the way you experience a place like Disneyland when you see it through a child's eyes. I hope the memory of her joy stays with me for a long time.

Today was the first day that actually felt like a lazy summer day. We had no plans. I was able to spend some time at the gym, eat healthy all day long, do a few chores, and just relax. Michaela was content to play, and spent the last part of the day dressed up like Elsa. I am looking forward to more days like that!

    1. I don't know what's up with this blog! It takes forever to load, and it eats comments. :P

I miss you, too. I tried to text you tonight, but my text couldn't go through. Do you have a new number?

Remember last Fourth of July? We met at that campground and had such a nice visit. I can't believe a year has passed already.
