She Crawls!

I knew this day was coming. I've been saying, "She'll be crawling by Christmas" for sometime now. In the last couple of weeks she has had just about all the moves, but then she'd straighten her legs out behind her and give up. It didn't stop her from getting where she wanted to go, but now it's a whole new world.

Papa will be coming by tomorrow to help me start baby-proofing. Any suggestions for managing a crawler?

Help!

  1. You have to lay down on the floor and see your house from her new perspective. That way you can see all the things that you never would have thought would be an issue with regard to baby proofing.

As for managing a crawler.........it sort of comes to you as the need arises.

I think it is so sweet that your little girl is on the move. ( a bittersweet moment for sure as it means she is getting big)

  2. Your sweetie is on the move! Dawn has great suggestions!

I remember before I went to China I attempted to 'babyproof' my house. Little did I know that I would need to do it numerous times!
    1) what I thought I'd need
    2) what in reality she could reach
    3) when she began to stand
    4) when she began to walk
    5) when she began to climb!

Babyproofing is a work in progress and trust me, just when you think you've finally taken care of it all, within seconds she'll find something you missed. :o)

What a wonderful Christmas this is going to be for you!!!!!!!!

  3. We didn't have luck with some of those plastic type cabinet / drawer locks as Kyle figured out how to open all of them. We put in magnetic locks where we would wave the magnet over the outside and it would open. Sounds complicated but it worked great. When crawling be sure to look for cords of things she can reach and then pull down. Make sure to have lots of her toys out on floor to try and entice her to play with those. yeah, right!!! There is so much to discover. Also, a great tip as she becomes more mobile - I left one low cupboard full of only Tupperware type dishes and let Kyle open it and unload and reload it all he wanted. It made for great entertainment!
